Homeowner User Agreement

Introduction

Welcome to Request A Quote.

This Homeowner User Agreement (the “Agreement”) governs your access to and use of the Request A Quote website and services as a Homeowner.

By submitting a Job Request, you agree to this Homeowner User Agreement. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information.

If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use Request A Quote.

Definitions

  • Platform: the Request A Quote website and associated services.

  • Homeowner: an individual aged 18 or over using the Platform to request quotes and connect with Trade Businesses.

  • Trade Business: an individual, sole trader, partnership or company registered on the Platform to receive and purchase Job Leads.

  • Job Request: details of work submitted by a Homeowner through Request A Quote.

  • Job Lead: a Job Request that an eligible Trade Business may be offered the opportunity to purchase.

  • Shortlisted Trade: a Trade Business identified or selected as a potential match for a particular Job Request.

  • Quote: a price, estimate or proposal provided directly by a Trade Business in relation to a Job Request.

Our Service

Request A Quote is an online platform designed to connect Homeowners looking for work to be carried out with relevant Trade Businesses.

Homeowners submit details of their job through the Platform. Based on the information provided, relevant Trade Businesses may be shortlisted for the opportunity.

Only shortlisted Trade Businesses are given the opportunity to purchase the relevant Job Lead and receive the Homeowner information made available after purchase.

Each Job Lead may be purchased by a maximum of three shortlisted Trade Businesses through Request A Quote. Job Leads are not exclusive. This does not prevent you from seeking quotations through other channels.

Submitting a Job Request does not guarantee that three Trade Businesses will purchase the Job Lead, contact you or provide a Quote. Depending on availability and interest, you may receive fewer than three responses.

Request A Quote provides the Platform through which Homeowners and Trade Businesses can connect. We do not provide trade services ourselves and are not a party to any contract subsequently entered into between a Homeowner and Trade Business.

Eligibility and Submitting a Job Request

You must be aged 18 or over and have authority to arrange the work described in your Job Request.

When submitting a Job Request, you must provide information that is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge.

This includes providing an accurate description of the work, its location and any other information reasonably required to help identify suitable Trade Businesses.

You must not knowingly submit:

  • false, misleading or fraudulent Job Requests;

  • duplicate Job Requests for the same work;

  • requests for unlawful work or services;

  • requests for work you do not have authority to arrange; or

  • Job Requests for work that has already been completed or is no longer required.

Only upload photographs, documents and other material that you have the right to share. You should avoid including unnecessary personal information about yourself or other people.

You give Request A Quote permission to host and use material you upload as reasonably necessary to process and manage your Job Request and share it with Trade Businesses as described in our Privacy Policy.

This permission does not allow us to use private property photographs or other Job Request material for unrelated advertising. Any use or sharing of personal information remains subject to our Privacy Policy.

Cancelling a Job Request

If the work is no longer required, you can ask us to cancel your Job Request by emailing [email protected] or by using the cancellation option in your account where available.

We will process cancellation requests promptly and confirm when the Job Request has been cancelled.

Once cancellation is recorded, we will stop offering that Job Lead for new purchases.

A Trade Business that has already purchased the Job Lead and received your details may still contact you before learning that the Job Request has been cancelled. You should tell them that the work is no longer required and let us know if you receive unwanted contact.

Cancelling a Job Request does not automatically erase information that has already been shared with a Trade Business. Your data protection rights continue to apply as explained in our Privacy Policy.

Cancelling a Job Request through Request A Quote does not cancel a separate contract for work that you have already agreed with a Trade Business. You should contact the Trade Business directly if you wish to discuss cancelling agreed work.

Homeowner Obligations

By using Request A Quote, you agree to:

  • provide accurate and complete information about your Job Request;

  • provide valid contact information;

  • communicate honestly and respectfully with Trade Businesses;

  • make reasonable efforts to respond to genuine enquiries about your Job Request;

  • tell Trade Businesses when you no longer wish to proceed;

  • ensure you have the necessary authority or permission to arrange the work;

  • independently consider whether a Trade Business is suitable before appointing them; and

  • use the Platform only for genuine requests for trade services.

You do not have to appoint a Trade Business or continue communicating with someone whose conduct makes you uncomfortable.

You may request quotations to assess the feasibility or affordability of work. Deciding not to proceed after receiving quotations does not, by itself, amount to misuse of Request A Quote.

We may take action where we reasonably believe Job Requests are deliberately false, misleading, fraudulent or repeatedly submitted in an abusive manner.

Matching and Shortlisting Trade Businesses

We use information including the type of work required, the job location and the services and geographical areas listed by Trade Businesses to identify potential matches.

Shortlisting does not guarantee that a Trade Business is available or suitable for your particular job and does not constitute a recommendation or endorsement by Request A Quote.

As part of setting up a Trade Business account, we may verify certain account and contact information provided to us, such as an email address or mobile telephone number
